Ashlee Simpson Biography

 Ashlee Simpson  Ashlee Simpson

From the Texas town of Waco to the concert arenas in cities like New York and Tokyo, Ashlee Simpson has seen a lot. At just 21 years old, Ashlee is a very busy song writer, actress and all-out celebrity.

Born Ashlee Nicole Simpson on October 3, 1984 in Waco, Texas to Joe and Tina Simpson, Ashlee is the youngest of two girls. Her older sister, Jessica Simpson, would eventually help lead the way for Ashlee’s success. The Simpson family moved to Dallas when Ashlee was very young.

Jessica’s career moved the family to Los Angeles before Ashlee entered her teen years. Though Ashlee attended a public elementary school in her early childhood, the move to LA came with the decision for her mother to home school her for the remainder of her education.

Ashlee started dancing at 4 years old and was accepted into the School of American Ballet at the young age of 11, where she was the youngest person ever to attend the school. She suffered from an eating disorder for about six months while at the School of American Ballet, but her parents got her the help she needed and she recovered. Three years later, at 14, Ashlee began her professional dancing career by touring with her sister, who was rising to fame at that time.

The first television appearance for Ashlee was a small role on Malcolm in the Middle. Ashlee was offered and accepted the role of Simon Camden’s love interest on the popular television series, 7th Heaven. Ashlee appeared in a couple of movies including the role of Clea in the movie Undiscovered.

Her first album, "Autobiography" was released in July 2004 and debuted in the Number 1 spot in the US, selling close to 400,000 albums in the first week. She began her first tour as platinum musical artist soon after the album’s release.

Ashlee was scheduled to perform two songs during her October, 2004 appearance on Saturday Night Live. The first song, “Pieces of Me”, went off without a hitch. When it was time for the second song to start, the drummer hit the wrong button and a pre-recorded track of “Pieces of Me”, including Simpson’s vocals, started. It exposed evidence that Ashlee was lip synching.

During a call-in appearance the day following the SNL incident to MTV’s Total Request Live, Ashlee explained that due to complications arising from a gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a form of acid reflux. She said she lost her voice due to GERD and that a doctor advised her not to sing.

In addition to a whirl-wind, around the world tour in 2004 and 2005, Ashlee starred in two seasons of her own show, The Ashlee Simpson Show. The TV show dealt with Simpson’s personal life as well as the process of her music, from writing and recording to preparing for performances. It aired for eight weeks during the summer of 2004 and a season of ten episodes from January to March 2005.

Ashlee will kick-off the "I AM ME" 2006 tour in Santa Barbara, CA on June 5, 2006 to present her newest album. With 32 cities across the United States hosting the youngest Simpson in just three months, that leaves very little time for more surgery (it is rumored she’s had a nose job and lip injections) or boyfriends (with ex’s including musician Ryan Cabrera, That 70’s Show star Wilmer Valderrama and band mate Braxton Olita).
